Batman critics give rasp-berries to Christian Bale’s silly voice

While Gotham’s Caped Crusader sweeps all before him at the box office, some critics just can’t get to grips with the raspy new voice actor Christian Bale gives him in the movie. Though Bale is fine as the Dark Knight’s alter-ego Bruce Wayne, when he dons the blue suit, he sounds – as the Huffington Post puts it – ‘like the offspring of Clint Eastwood and a grizzly bear.’

Similarly, the New Yorker’s David Denby complains: “He delivers his lines in a hoarse voice with an unvarying inflection.”

One wonders if Christian used the same scary voice when he got into that recent argy-bargy with his mum…

  1. Christian Bale has absolutely NO American roots, so to sell to the Americans he had to try to do an impression of them. You decide. Apparently, he failed.

  2. I saw him in one movie where he had an even more silly Welsh accent. Actually, that might have been his real accent.
